Aromas of cherries, berries and petals preface the 2023 Bourgogne Passetoutgrain l'Exception, a medium-bodied, seamless and integrated red that's easygoing and charming. It will be drinkable on release.

Medium red crimson. What a charming nose, much more pinot, with a softly generous ripe red fruit. A bit more acidity behind but this should be a charming gulper with a softer strawberry not. There is no Anthologie bottling this year. Drink from 2026-2030. Tasted Dec 2024.

The 2023 Bourgogne Passetoutgrain L'Exceptionne was affected by a hailstorm on July 11, which means that this is the only Passetoutgrain cuvée this year. It has a Pinot Noir-driven bouquet that is more expressive than its 50% Gamay. The palate is balanced with juicy red and blue fruit and a rounded, nubile finish. Fine.
