"Pure gold and Napa Valley magic ... It shows the purity, balance, and sheer class of this vintage beautifully. Count yourself lucky if you have some of these bottles." - Jeb Dunnuck
Maybach has been a cult-collector favorite for years now, and in landmark vintages like 2023 their Materium Cabernet Sauvignon is one of our best-selling blue-chip, luxury Napa bottlings (we still get requests for the wildly popular, also 100-point 2021). We've been eagerly awaiting the release of the absolutely monumental 2023, and the day is here. We were allocated a miniscule amount, as demand is already sky-high, and with our best-in-market pricing, we don't expect this parcel to last long.
Highly celebrated winemaker Thomas Rivers-Brown has outdone himself yet again in this spectacular expression. The pristine Oakville character from the hillside Weitz vineyard shines through in spades, confirming why this AVA is ground zero for textbook, cult Napa Cabernet. The "kaleidoscope-like" aromatic profile and the "commanding, robust and expressive" palate signify vintage-leading potential in this powerful yet artfully crafted beauty. Not to be missed, the "sensational" 2023 Amoenus, from a cool site in Calistoga, is a stunner in its own right, notching 98+ points and further cementing Maybach as one of the top achieving estates in 2023. For collectors of Napa's finest wines, these two should unquestionably be at the top of your list. |

Absolutely stunning, the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Amoenus comes from a cooler site in the warmer Calistoga appellation and offers red and black fruits, spicy wood, graphite, and pencil lead aromatics. It's ripe, full-bodied, and powerful, with ample mid-palate depth, velvety tannins, and a blockbuster finish. This sensational Cabernet Sauvignon can be drunk today yet deserves 4-5 years of bottle age and will see its 30th birthday in fine form. There are 325 cases produced. Drink 2025-2055.
98+ points, Jeb Dunnuck (Dec 2025)
Deep and dark-fruited with layers of spices, potpourri, earth, violets, cedar and licorice. The full-bodied palate offers a luscious mouthfeel, fine-tuned tannins and a bright line of acidity. There is a lovely tension and freshness beneath the density, leading to a complete, mouthwatering finish. Drink or hold.
96 points, Ryan Montgomery, James Suckling (Apr 2026)
Amoenus Vineyard is a rugged 19ha volcanic site in Calistoga, owned by Turnbull. Thomas Rivers Brown has worked deftly with fruit from this vineyard since 2009. The 2023 is impressively dense yet fresh, layered with ultra-inky black fruit, sage, tobacco and scorched-earth notes. Ripe tannins are sinewy and velvety at once, providing both muscle and polish. The full-bodied finish carries impressive length, with building wet-slate minerality and unsweetened cocoa-powder tannins.
96 points, Jonathan Cristaldi, Decanter (Mar 2026)
