The 2023 Charmes-Chambertin Très Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru takes time to unfold on the nose with raspberry and wild strawberry, damp earthy soil and touches of pine in the background. Very backward. The palate is very well balanced with saturated tannins, layers of lightly spiced red fruit and touches of red peppercorns towards the Mazoyères-like finish. Very classy. Jean-Pierre Roty was effusive about this but of all the cuvées it will need time in bottle.
