This is an exhilarating aromatic experience, as bursts of orange, mint, talc and the salinity of an ocean breeze alert the olfactory system to shift into high gear. The wine is dry, but its tangerine and Meyer lemon flavors are ripe enough to suggest a sweet kiss, while an Earl Grey tea note hovers in the background. Brilliant acidity is the cherry on top.

From vines that are over 50 years of age, this Hyland Gewürtztraminer is eclectic and delicious. Effusively aromatic as the variety demands, orange blossom, ginger and cardamom leap from the glass with a backing note of lemon oil. There is a balance of viscosity and freshness on the palate. Flavours of honeyed apricot, lemon drop candy, and brilliant Jamaican allspice make pronouncements about the calibre of these wines when they are produced from older vines in the Willamette Valley. Delicious.

A very floral expression at first, followed by ripe lemons, flower honey and more white flowers. Medium-bodied with a succulent core of citrons at the center palate. Round and creamy, but fresh acidity brings energy to the mid-palate and onto the flavorful finish. Drink now.

The 2023 Gewürztraminer Old Vine Estate cascades from the glass with a burst of sweet spices and tropical citrus tones. It's soothingly round and pliant with silken textures and masses of ripe fruits, mixing melon, kiwi and green apple. It completely cleanses the palate, tapering off spicy with gentle tension and medium length.
