What is Sauvignon Blanc's true nature? Framingham's so-called cuvee aims to inform us. The 2023 Sauvignon Blanc True Nature is a concentrated and structured style with some real grip. It's not the classically fruity, exuberant, all-singing, all-dancing, stainless-steel-fermented style that put New Zealand on the wine map. This cuvée is fermented fairly warm (18-20°C) and, as such, it is an aromatically restrained style with citrus, pear and elderflower flavors. While large casks played their part in this wine's development, the influence is more noticeable in their effect on the rounded texture as opposed to any oaky flavor – although is there just a mere whiff of smoke? The finish is tied up in a clean and crisp manner, with racy acidity powering through.

A fruit cocktail of tropical, citrus, stone fruit with jalapeño pepper and an herbal edge. There's a big ping of high toned acidity that races straight down the center of the mouth, leaving lovely, tongue-tingling, limey refreshment that leaves you craving another sip.

Notes of fresh limes, ripe guavas, currant leaves and crushed apples. Medium-bodied, fresh and crunchy, with clean acidity. Minerally finish. Sustainable. Drink now. Screw cap.
