Fresh, brooding blue and purple fruit with mountain herbs and a touch of peppercorns. Really fluid and certainly with less mid-palate flesh than Paraje Altamira, but even fresher and nervier. Plenty of tight, silty tannins. Drink from 2025.

The 2023 Polígonos San Pablo Malbec is the most high-toned and chalky of the Polígonos Malbecs, leading with a red-fruited, meaty nose followed by a decadent yet focused, compact and remarkably energetic palate. It concludes with a searingly mineral finish elongated by a taut, bracing and chalky energy. While I slightly preferred the less angular Polígonos bottlings from Altamira and Gualtallary, this is exquisitely rendered and will appeal to readers seeking minerality above all else.
