Very vibrant and floral, with notes of white peaches and dried strawberries, this is a very enticing dry Mosel riesling. Elegant interplay of juiciness and wet stone acidity on the medium-bodied palate, right through the long, clean finish. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

The yang to his Blue Slate bottling's yin, the Red Slate from Dr Loosen, is a bone dry baby GG for those who love the style, but at a bargain price. The Riesling is sourced from estate vines in Ürzig, Erden, Lösnich and Kinheim villages. Vibrant notes of white pepper, crushed slate and electric lime zest leap from the glass. The palate is linear and lean with soaring acidity that complements the razor's edge notes of slate and lemon zest.

The 2023 Riesling Trocken Rotschiefer (a.k.a. Red Slate Dry) is clear, precise and finely aromatic on the nose that reveals herbal aromas. Light, round and saline on the palate, this is a crystalline and stimulating, mouth-tickling Riesling for immediate drinking pleasures. Bottled in November 2024. 12% stated alcohol. Screw cap. Tasted in December 2024.
