A sweet, ripe stream of sappy cherry and melted red licorice shows real concentration and finesse, with finely crushed mineral intensity building toward the finish. Polished tannins bring definition. A blend of 70% Grenache Noir, 8% Syrah and the remainder a mix of Cinsault, Mourvèdre and Counoise, the 2023 Chateauneuf du Pape is a lovely wine, opening with aromas of dark cherries, spices, violets and garrigue. Medium- to full-bodied, enveloping and layered, it is elegantly structured, with good depth at the core and a long, saline, licorice-tinged finish. It is sourced from vines on the Beaucastel plateau, the estate’s only holding outside the sector of Les Cabrières.

Mostly from vines east of the château near Boislauzon with more pebbly and clay soils (which gives it a different style compared to the other releases here), the 2023 Châteauneuf Du Pape shows a pretty, perfumed, seamless style that's absolutely delicious. Red and black berries, spring flowers, violets, and pepper all shine in the glass, and it's fresh, medium-bodied, has fabulous balance and outstanding length. It doesn't have the depth of the flagship cuvées, but this is juicy, pure, and just impossible to resist. There are 10,000 bottles produced. Drink 2025-2035.
