A blend of 70% Grenache and 30% Syrah that saw extended maceration and was raised in wood vats, demi-muids, and barrels, the 2023 Vacqueyras Tradition sports a deeper ruby hue and offers peppery red and black fruits, spice, and Provençal garrigue, with herbal and meaty nuances in the background. It’s medium-bodied and nicely textured, with fine tannins and outstanding length. This classic, satisfying beauty should drink well over the coming 7-8 years or more. Drink 2026-2034.

Caressing and densely packed, with seductive ripe fruit backed by fine-grained tannins. Smoked apple wood and ganache drift on the finish, grounded by iron and acid verve. Grenache and Syrah. Drink now through 2029. 1,300 cases made, 450 cases imported.

The 2023 Vacqueyras kicks off with intense strawberry jam, ripe black cherries, licorice and garrigue. Touching the full-bodied palate with a succulent core of red fruit, the 2023 is a delicious Vacqueyras that delivers complex pleasure right out of the gate. Balanced and refreshing, the 2023 is my slight preference over the almost equally enticing 2022 I tasted last year.
