What a beautiful white Burgundy, with the elegance and concentration we look for in these wines! Terrific chalky character and restrained candied citrus fruit are intertwined on the graceful, medium-bodied palate. Very long and polished finish with considerable nut and mineral complexity. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

Lovely depth of flavour, offering pronounced aromas of lemon peel and Granny Smith apples – more taut and chiselled than the Beauregard. The structure is admirably racy for the vintage, with plenty of freshness to counterbalance the rich extract. The grapes are from a section of Jessiaume's Gravières on white marl; there are 1.2ha in production today, with another half-hectare planted but declassified for now. The wine is ageing at present in cask, one-third new.

Made from some older vines and some young, 40 and 8 years old respectively. Clean pale lemon. Stones and ripe lemon skins on the nose. On the palate a little bit of honeysuckle emerges, just enough to be interesting, though evidence that it was important not to hold off any further. A very classy long finish. Drink from 2028-2034. Tasted Oct 2024.

The 2023 Santenay Les Gravières 1er Cru Blanc comes from 1.7 hectares of vine planted at the top of the vineyard. This has a more classical nose than the Beauregard, with peach skin, citrus fruit and apple peeling notes. The palate is well balanced and a little waxy, with a lightly spiced entry and satisfying extract on the finish. Give this a year in bottle.
