Coming from very old vines and brought up mostly in used barrels with 15% new oak, the 2023 Saint Joseph Olivaie reveals smoking good red and black fruits, flowery incense, spice, and cured meat intermixed with peppery nuances on the nose. It's medium to full-bodied and has a broad, layered mouthfeel, velvety tannins, and a gorgeous finish. It's one sexy Saint Joseph that does everything right. I love it today, yet given its balance and depth, I see no reason it shouldn't see its 20th birthday in fine form.

Matured with 20% new oak (including one new demi-muid), the 2023 Saint-Joseph l'Olivaie reveals aromas of black cherry, cassis, rose and floral nuances, with a subtle hint of surmaturité. Medium- to full-bodied, it’s round, velvety and fleshy, offering a dense yet harmonious profile. A fine thread of tension balances its gourmand character, while the silky texture carries through to a long, elegant finish.
