Glowing purple, with a more classic nose, some strawberry in the fruit mix. Magical intensity despite the crop size, then a gentler more fluid finish, with a light tannin to finish. Drink from 2028-2032. Tasted Nov 2024.

This is the first wine to display any appreciable reduction and here it's enough to overshadow the fruit. By contrast, there is a lovely sense of vibrancy to the supple, delicious and caressing medium weight flavors that possess fine length on the youthfully austere finale. This could however use better depth so a few years of proper cellaring are advised. *Outstanding*

The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Village has the best bouquet amongst the Domaine's Village Crus. There is good complexity, with redcurrant, blackberry and touches of crushed stone. The palate is medium-bodied with a concentrated entry, displaying sweet black cherries, boysenberry and a touch of orange zest. Notably high-toned in style, there is a soupçon of hedonism here, but it just about pulls it off.
