Savvy Burgundy value hunters, this is for you. Romaric Chavy’s well-crafted, overachieving Bourgogne Blanc was a pleasant surprise on our recent visit to the domaine in November – it comes from a 3-hectare parcel of high-density plantings in Puligny that sits right on the village appellation boundary, so this is a true “baby Puligny” if there ever was one. Leading with a very pretty, perfumed bouquet of white flowers, lemon, pear skin, and fresh minerality, the 2023 Les Femelottes reflects the strength of Chardonnay in the vintage. The equally charming palate shows its Puligny-adjacent pedigree in its beautiful, lively texture and round, refined notes of lemon oil, ripe green apple, and faint hints of peach pit. Precise acidity draws the finish out in impressive fashion.
