So perfumed, with subtle plum, licorice, graphite and dried meat aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied with ultra-fine, silky tannins. The flavors are nicely fruity, but the forest floor, dried and smoked meat and white pepper come through at the end. Solid and structured. The first year with 2% viognier co-fermented with the syrah. Drink now or hold.

A blend of 96% Syrah and 4% Viognier brought up all in 80% new barrels, the 2023 Clos De Lican offers gorgeous notes of cassis, liquid violets, white pepper, game, and a beautiful floral character. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it has terrific purity, a layered, elegant texture, and a gorgeous finish. It's an absolutely stunning, world-class Syrah that will cruise for 15 years in cold cellars. Drink 2026-2041.
