Ruby purple in colour with a noble bouquet that does speak grand cru. A fine smooth texture nevertheless with moments of relief as the fruit impresses itself. Plenty of layers of dark red satiny fruit, plus some fine gravelly tannins. Very complete, absolutely stands up. Two thirds ancient vines., one third 50-year-old, plus the 1999 replacements of the vines which were vandalised in 1999. The soil is Oxfordien Digonella and some marl. Drink from 2030-2038. Tasted Nov 2024.
