What beautiful aromas of ripe raspberries and summer flowers this remarkable Gevrey-Chambertin premier cru has. After starting with a charm offensive on the medium-bodied palate, the earthy power of the appellation rises up in the imposing finish, where it makes a bold statement. From a site next to the grand cru Ruchottes-Chambertin.

Beautiful colour here, a darker crimson, and the fruit is magical. Perfectly on the red and black cusp while the whole bunches add a floral note. The Clos du Fonteny is on terrific form today with a fine balance of acidity to finish, alongside balanced tannins. A fine long aftertaste. Drink from 2030-2036. Tasted Nov 2024.

Aromas of sweet red berries, cherries, rose petal and peony introduce the 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos du Fonteny, a medium-bodied, satiny and vibrant wine that's fine-boned, succulent and saline. After the more structured 2022, the 2023 wears its heart on its sleeve.
