The 2023 Riesling Gimmeldinger Kapellenberg Erste Lage is the western extension of the Meerspinne, on Triassic sandstone debris with loess and loam in the lower reaches, benefitting from cooler winds. A gorgeous blend of citric impressions shimmers with lemon peel, citrus foliage and tangerine. The palate adds a slightly pithy and yeasty texture, grounding this aromatic flight of citrus, pristine, bright, svelte, beautifully light and lip-smacking. (Bone-dry)

From calcareous loess and loam as well as sandstone soils, the 2023 Gimmeldinger Kapellenberg Riesling VDP.Erste Lage opens with a deep, intense and finely reductive nose of ripe and concentrated fruits intertwined with notes of crushed stones. Round, refined and elegant on the palate, this is a medium to full-bodied Riesling with fine, stimulating saline acidity and mineral grip on the finish. Moderate in alcohol. 12% stated alcohol. Diam 30 cork. Tasted at the domaine in January 2024.
