This grows at an estate vineyard on the north bank of the Awatere River, the terraces of gravel and silt sheltered from the wind. The site produces an intriguing, mineral-driven sauvignon, its tart pink-grapefruit flavors, scents of nutmeg and lemon zest pleasantly abraded by stony acidity. Pour it with coastal classics, like Portuguese pork with clams.

Bright and lively sauvignon, showing aromas of green pears, kiwi fruit, snow peas and elderflowers. It’s medium-bodied, with such freshness and crunchy energy. Sustainable. Drink now. Screw cap.

The 2022 Single Vineyard Taylors Pass Sauvignon Blanc is pungent and bright, with concentrated green apple, lime, coriander, juniper and brine. Everything is in place here. It’s a juicy wine with loads of flavor. The fine phenolics through the finish elevate the wine beyond the usual summer drinking wine. Very good. 13% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.

There's a honeyed richness at first sniff, like peach cake with lemongrass garnish beside passion fruit sorbet, with whispers of green pepper and grass. Expect oodles of fruit in the mouth, fleshed out by a creamy texture and lifted by zingy acidity. This wine is dry with a balance that suggests a few years of aging are possible.
