Always released one year later than most Barbarescos, the Vietti 2022 Barbaresco Roncaglie opens to a dark, brooding bouquet of blackcurrant, tarry spice and tobacco resin with evocative notes of warm road pavement. Despite that powerful aromatic profile, the wine tapers gracefully across the palate with an elegant, finely textured mouthfeel and silky tannins. Hints of clove and freshly crushed laurel leaf add further savory complexity, making this one of the more distinctive expressions in the portfolio. It is aged for 24 months in large oak casks. Production is 5,862 bottles.

The 2022 Barbaresco Roncaglie is all class. Elegant, lifted and perfumed, the 2022 is so elegant, so refined. Freshly cut flowers, red berry fruit, chalk, mint and white pepper are beautifully delineated. This mid-weight, nuanced Barbaresco is all class. Floral and savory overtones linger on the back end.

The 2022 Barbaresco Roncaglie pours a bright transparent red hue and opens with aromas of fresh raspberries, herbes de Provence, dusty earth, and sweet fennel. Medium-bodied, it carries the warmth of the vintage gracefully, showing fine tannins, refreshing acidity, and delicate citrus notes through the finish. The wine comes from a three-hectare vineyard of which roughly one-third is used for this bottling. 5,800 bottles were produced. Drink 2026-2042.
