A very spicy Mosel Spatlese with aromas ranging from dried strawberry to Mediterranean herbs that are married to a stunning combination of juicy fruit and racy energy. An impressively structured wine, but this is almost all below the waterline of perception. Long, complex spicy finish. Drink or hold.

Unbelievably steep and red-soiled, the Ürziger Würzgarten, or spice garden vineyard, is a Mosel legend. This finely sweet Spätlese balances aromatics of bright citrus with lean slate minerality and a sweet honeyed florality.—lovely notes of lemon drop candies, sweet pear flesh, and cardamom spice. The Loosen Spätlese fruit gets a few extra weeks of ripening but doesn't have any botrytis.
