The 2022 Chiroubles Aux Craz is more backward and surly on the nose compared to the La Grosse Pierre, the fruit profile darker with light tertiary notes. The palate is well balanced with good grip and fine tension, a more structured Chiroubles with a pleasing marine element surfacing toward the sapid finish. Excellent.

The plot covers 1.20ha at 480m altitude, exposed south on granitic mother rock. A fine even glowing purple. A beautifully balanced bouquet, exquisite, so light on its feet yet with excellent tension, a refined Chiroubles that the heat does not seem to affect. A fine long finish. Drink from 2025-2032. Tasted Feb 2024.

Primary aromas of candied raspberries, cherries, lilacs, peonies and sweet spices introduce the 2022 Chiroubles Aux Craz, a medium-bodied wine, revealing further notes of eucalyptus, candied peel and slate on the palate. While the initial attack is more daring, the wine gracefully tapers off on the back palate, guided by an influence of fine-grained tannins. This is a suave wine that leaves you wanting more.
