Despite its 125g/L of residual sugar, the 2022 Le Mont Premiere Trie Moelleux is balanced, fine and long. Yes, its sweetness fills the mouth and makes it blossom, but there's no suggestion of unctuousness or weight. It has a tranquility as if it has just finished a weekend on a retreat, calmly coating the palate with its curves. In 2022, its tender acidity makes for a gentle conclusion with a delicate floral fragrance. Nevertheless, the refined, chalky tension pulls this wine through, bringing line and length.

The 2022 Vouvray “le Mont” Moelleux 1ère Trie from Domaine Huët comes in at the same 11.5 percent octane this year as the le Haut Lieu 1er Trie bottling. The wine seems a touch more marked by botrytis, giving it more depth on both the nose and palate, with the bouquet offering up scents of pineapple, sweet quince, mirabelle, lovely soil tones, citrus peel, honeycomb and a fine array of musky floral tones. On the palate the wine is deep, pure and full-bodied, with again, a lovely sense of elegance out of the blocks, a superb core, good framing acids and excellent focus and balance on the long, complex and vibrant finish.
