Domaine de la Chapelle’s “Madame Noly” cuvée from is made from their oldest vines in Saint-Véran, as these vines were all planted in 1955 and 1960. Ninety percent of the cuvée is fermented in stainless steel and ten percent barrel-fermented, with the 2022 version coming in at an even thirteen percent octane. The wine delivers a lovely and impressively precise aromatic constellation of apple, pear, orange zest, fresh almond, chalky minerality, just a whisper of oak and a lovely floral topnote redolent of apple blossoms. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, vibrant and focused, with fine depth at the core, good mineral undertow, bright acids and lovely balance on the long and complex finish. Fine juice.

The 2022 Saint-Véran Madame Noly, named after the woman that initially sold the Rollets the vineyard, is matured in enamel-lined vats. It has an attractive nose with yellow plum, orange blossom and crushed stone aromas. The palate is well-balanced with a fine bead of acidity. It's mineral-driven, especially towards the finish, which demonstrates impressive tension. This is well worth seeking out.
