All made from very old vines, with some going back to 1917. Pale clear colour. A suggestion of intensity but very discreet at this stage. Marvellous backbone, extreme purity, entirely fresh white fruit, yet with a racy intensity that is exceptional. Drink from 2026-2034. Tasted Mar 2024.

The 2022 Pouilly-Fuissé Château des Quarts Monopoles 1er Cru, which undergoes an 18-month élevage, has a seductive bouquet with scents of yellow plum, crushed rock, nettle and Vervane. It's very complex, and it's really developed since I tasted it from the barrel. The palate is ripe on the entry, with a slightly viscous entry. It is elegant and poised, but the power is stacked at the back end. This may deserve a higher score with bottle maturity.

An exceptionally pretty and overtly floral-suffused nose freely reveals its aromas of acacia blossom, lemon-lime, crushed anise and a hint of exotic tea character. There is noticeably better volume to the medium-bodied flavors that brim with sappy dry extract that easily buffers the moderately firm acid spine supporting the impressively persistent mineral-driven finale. This is lovely and a wine that seemingly always ages well even though this should be approachable on the younger side. *Outstanding*
