This goes deep on blackcurrants and plums with hints of violets and sweet spices. Mellow and textured in the mouth with medium to full body and ripe, melted tannins. Dense and succulent. Drink or hold.

A blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 2% Malbec, and 1% Petit Verdot, aged 14–18 months in new French oak. This wine is characterised by super tart red-toned fruit intertwined with cinnamon spices, offering some of the vintage's brightest, red-fruited, and high-toned spiced aromatics. With a modest alcohol level of 14.4% and substantial, mineral-rich tannins, the fruit also displays a salty-mineral intensity. It feels as though this iconic producer may have picked slightly earlier than planned, but with some air, the wine's brightness becomes irresistibly enticing—a vibrant and distinctive expression. Under the stewardship of the Peter Mondavi Sr. family, now in its fourth and fifth generations, Charles Krug is Napa Valley’s oldest winery and home to California’s first tasting room.
