Fairly full in body, with a good sense of density and concentration. The acidity is well balanced, with a touch of stem structure, those characteristically searching whole-bunch tannins. There’s a little nip of oak tannin too, but this is well done, well balanced and melded. Oak is certainly present but it's in the background. The acidity is not high, but enough to bring balance, and the alcohol is in check – present but not overwhelming. More ageworthy than the 2023, if perhaps not so fresh. All from Les Rochains, 76-year-old vines.

In comparison to the Côte Rozier, the 2022 Côte Rôtie Dans les Vignes de Mon Père contains 94% Syrah complemented by 6% Viognier. Revealing an elegant, well-defined and perfumed bouquet of violets, pepper, spices and wild dark berries mingled with a touch of oak, it's medium to full-bodied, linear and seamless, framed by fine-grained, velvety tannins and concludes with an ethereal, long finish. Crafted with 100% whole clusters, this delicate, exquisite wine was matured for 18 months in large barrels, 50% of which were new. This is a real success.

The 2022 Côte-Rôtie Dans les Vignes de mon Père checks in at 13.5% alcohol. Co-fermented with 6% Viognier, it aged for 20 months in 2nd-fill French oak barriques previously used for white wine maturation. Hauntingly floral, the fragrant 2022 unveils pronounced rose petal, apricot, black cherry, black plum and cedar aromas. Pencil shaving adds another layer of complexity. Medium- to full-bodied, round and refreshing, the 2022 achieves remarkable intensity before landing with stamina on the elegant finish.
