The 2022 Pinot Gris Furstentum Grand Cru has a touch of smokiness on its shy nose. The palate is a picture of subtly ripe Comice pear flesh. A zesty vein of brightness adds freshness and a subtle hint of pith that only adds to the supple, smooth balance on this gentle, beautifully dry Pinot Gris. Residual sugar is only 4.8 g/L here. (Bone-dry)

Such a delicate and precise beauty. A wide aroma spectrum with a wealth of floral, melon and fresh quince nuances. As concentrated as it is elegant on the medium- to full-bodied palate. Very cool and silky for a grape that tends to opulence and warmth. From 30-year-old vines. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

Bottled in July 2023, the 2022 Alsace Grand Cru Furstentum Pinot Gris is very clear and intense yet fresh and floral on the pure nose that combines a ripe seed fruit aroma with stony notes. Full-bodied, round and elegant on the palate, this is a rich, intense and powerful yet also saline and structured Pinot that is not alcoholic despite the 14% stated alcohol and 4.8 grams per liter of residual sugar. The richness and intensity are balanced by mineral substance and fine Pinot tannins. This is a dry, gastronomic Pinot from a great site and 40-year-old vines. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in April 2024.
