Established in 2007, Bedrock's founder and winemaker Morgan Twain-Peterson is dedicated to preserving and rehabilitating old vineyards around California, sourcing his old vine Zinfandel from vines averaging around 80 years old. Crafted mainly from Sonoma grown fruit, the fresh and aromatic 94 pt. 2021 Bedrock Zinfandel Old Vine offers ripe spiced fruit "with good structure, fresh acidity and fine tannins" according to Jeb Dunnuck who calls it "an outstanding value" that's ready to enjoy over the next few years. Situated on 53 acres in the northeast corner of the Russian River Valley, Limerick Lane Cellars is a renowned Zinfandel specialist, its oldest vines dating back to 1910. Called "an absolute winner" by Antonio Galloni of Vinous, the bright and juicy 93 pt. 2021 Limerick Lane Zinfandel is a blend of estate-grown fruit and a handful of old vine sites from around the region, while the richly textured 95 pt. 2021 Limerick Lane Zinfandel 1910 Block comes from the estate's original century old parcel, called "a gutsy version, built in an old-school style" by the Wine Spectator's Tim Fish with enticing briary fruit and layered tannins promising to age for another decade. Named for founder Lee Martinelli's grandparents who first planted grapes there in the 1880's, Martinelli's Giuseppe & Luisa Vineyard is located in the Russian River AVA on the steepest non-terraced hillside in Sonoma County, aptly named Jackass Hill because of its challenging terrain and still home to his grandfather's original vines. Aged in a mix of 40% new French oak and 60% neutral French Oak for 11 months, the rich and elegant 97 pt. 2021 Martinelli Zinfandel Giuseppe & Luisa Vineyard offers alluring aromatic fruit layered with spice and fresh juicy acidity, its deep, firm tannins promising over a decade of evolution.
