Crafted by Sonoma's Zinfandel experts and consistently one of the region's top-rated values, the bright and savory 92 pt. Seghesio Sonoma Zinfandel offers rich dark fruit hinting of brambly berries and peppered spice balanced by velvety tannins and vibrant acidity, a pure and pleasurable California Zin offered at a bargain price.
Established over a century ago by Italian immigrants, Seghesio Family Vineyards is one of the region's most historic producers, its original Zinfandel plantings in the Home Ranch Vineyard among the oldest vines in Sonoma County. Sourcing the 2021 Zin from mainly estate-grown grapes from over 150 sustainably farmed vineyards throughout the Dry Creek, Russian River and Alexander Valleys, winemaker Andy Robinson employed hands on canopy management to ensure even ripening and manage yields, hand harvesting the grapes in small lots and fermenting each unique parcel separately in a mix of open and closed stainless steel tanks. Blending in a little Petite Sirah and a mix of other red grapes, winemaker Robinson aged the rich and satisfying 2021 Seghesio Sonoma Zin for 10 months in 7% New American oak and 93% neutral French and American oak barrels, yielding pure elegant berry fruit with a luscious, velvety mouthfeel that begs for another sip.
Described as "one of California's elite Zinfandel specialists" by the Wine Spectator's Tim Fish, the appealing 92 pt. 2021 Seghesio Sonoma Zinfandel is a pleasure to sip on its own and equally enjoyable when paired with robustly flavored food, ready to enjoy often over the next few years and as always, an unbeatable value. |
