"Beautifully poised and delicious"
James Suckling
From cult favorite winemaker Eric Jensen of Booker Vineyards, the full-flavored 97 pt. 2021 My Favorite Neighbor Blanc Chardonnay boasts luscious ripe fruit hinting of spice with refreshing acidity and a creamy, lingering finish, crafted in a rich, concentrated style certain to appeal to fans of Napa Valley Chards and available at an unbeatable price.
After purchasing 100 acres on the west side of Paso Robles in 2001, entrepreneur Eric Jensen began with the goal of growing top-quality fruit, eventually supplying A-list wineries including Justin Smith of Saxum and his neighbor Stephan Asseo of L'Aventure Wines before releasing his first Booker Vineyards wine to great critical acclaim in 2005. Described as "sleek, powerful and stylish Paso Robles wines that appeal to a broad audience" by Eric Guido of Vinous, Jensen's My Favorite Neighbor or "MFN" project was initially named as an homage to his neighbor and mentor Stephan Asseo but quickly came to honor his entire network of growers throughout Paso Robles and their unwavering dedication to producing quality fruit. Crafted from Chardonnay sourced from select vineyards in San Luis Obispo, Paso and to the south in the Edna Valley, Eric aged the elegant 2021 MFN Blanc Chardonnay for eight months in a combination of new and neutral French oak barrels, crafting it to be ready to enjoy now with "the depth and balance to mature beautifully over time" according to Eric Guido of Vinous.
Sourcing top quality Chardonnay from his Paso neighbors for far less than the price of Napa grown fruit, Eric Jensen's 97 pt. 2021 My Favorite Neighbor Blanc Chardonnay offers the lush mouth coating flavors and layered complexity typical of a top rated Napa Chard at a fraction of the price, guaranteed to make Eric's favorite neighbors equally popular among fans of richly styled Chardonnay seeking a great deal.
The 2021 Chardonnay is very ripe in style with scents of banana chip, apple pie, jasmine, allspice and brown sugar. The full-bodied palate is packed with ripe, spicy fruits and plenty of refreshing acidity, and it finishes long with a satiny, mouth-coating texture. It's an old-school style reminiscent of Napa that fans of ripe, oaked Chardonnays will enjoy.
