The 2021 Chardonnay Barrel Fermented comes from lots picked at different ripeness levels and matured entirely in barrel, raised in 228-litre Burgundy barrels (Nevers) with 10% not going through malo, spending nine months on the lees. It has an engaging, seductive bouquet with yellow plum, nectarine and light passion fruit scents that is intense and focused. The palate is medium-bodied with a delineated entry, quite edgy and mineral-driven, partly thanks to avoiding the full malo; there's a slightly flintiness towards the finish. Very fine.

Aromas of flint, wet stone, fresh hay and baked lemon. Medium-bodied with a silky texture. Rather expressive and deep on the palate, with flinty goodness. Bright acidity. Complex, but remains approachable. Sustainable. Drink now. Screw cap.

The 2021 Barrel Fermented Chardonnay is buttery, oaky and ripe with notes of stone fruit and citrus and notes of underripe pineapple, yellow apple and lemon pastry cream that waft from the glass. Medium-bodied and with 13% alcohol, the wine is focused, fresh and clean on the palate and lingers long with a food-friendly finish. The wine rested on the lees in French oak barrels for nine months, 23% new. Just under 28,000 bottles were produced. Give it a try.
