With the Beaujolais star continuing its upward trajectory, we've seen corresponding upward pressure on the market for top-echelon bottings from the region's most prized vineyards. Thankfully, however, it's still a hotbed of overachieving hidden gems and boutique stars like Jean-Michel Dupré.
While prices on other Morgon cult favorites like Burgaud, Bouland, Lapierre, and Foillard have hit new heights, Dupré's 2021 flagship wines remain remarkable steals at under $20, which belies the quality in the bottle. The JS93 Le Grottier hails from a 1.5ha parcel of 75-year-old vines in the Grands Cras lieu-dit and boasts "impressive ripeness" tied to a "powerful, tense, and crisp finish" that indicates the potential for further development in the cellar.
