Scents of black cherries and cassis emerge on the nose of the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Bartolucci Vineyard, which comes from a site tucked up into the western edge of Saint Helena. Hints of charred oak and scorched coffee accent the dark fruit, while the full-bodied palate is rich and concentrated yet finishes long and silky. It looks to have the stuffing to go at least a couple of decades, while still being approachable young.

A dark, frankly ripe style, with açaí and blackberry reduction notes teaming up with ganache and dark tobacco accents to form a dense, grippy core backed by licorice root and apple wood on the gusty finish. For fans of the muscular style. Best from 2026 through 2039. 1,500 cases made.

This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the Bartolucci Vineyard at the base of the Mayacamas Range on the west side of St. Helena. Well-drained soil and gentle slopes, this vineyard is perfect for growing Cabernet Sauvignon. After 20 to 28 days on the skins, the wine was aged for 20 months in new French oak. Double the price of the Napa Valley Cabernet. It delivers what you'd expect in the form of a riper, more opulent and expressive style. Dark berry fruits, refined cedar, and earth. Full-bodied, with succulent blackberry and black cherry fruits, a hint of marjoram, graphite, and rose petal florals, resolving with a fairly intense tannic finish. Those tannins sneak up, so be sure to give the wine plenty of aeration.
