Much of this organic estate's low-yielding, own-rooted vines have resulted in this wine's nickname, ‘lazy’ or Lagnusa. An opulent Nero with aromatics of ripe cherries, spicy pepper, rose petals, wood smoke and frankincense. The palate is lush, broad and velveteen. Purple and blue fruits predominate with ripe cherry flesh and rich fig but make way for savoury Mediterranean scrub, lavender and cinders.

Lush and creamy in texture, with flavors of raspberry puree, dried cherry, star anise and violet gliding across the palate. Well-honed, succulent acidity keeps this fresh and focused, while a minerally underpinning of stone and smoke emerges to drive the lightly chewy finish. Drink now through 2029. 10,400 cases made, 5,000 cases imported.

The 2021 Nero d’Avola Lagnusa is coy in the glass, mixing blackberry with cedar and scant citrus. It splashes across the palate with a mineral-tinged blend of wild berries and exotic spice. A zesty core of acidity adds a reverberation of tension. The 2021 leaves a liquid floral concentration and subtle tannins to linger, finishing only lightly structured and with medium length.
