I have placed a number of orders for wine with B‑21. Could not be happier with the process. Selection is very nice and comprehensive. I have called their support line re delivery of a pre‑order and was very pleased with their level of support in delivering wine around a time period when traveling and\or not available to take receipt. Overall, I extremely pleased.

2021 Favia Cabernet Sauvignon Coombsville (750ml)

Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa, California

B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More

“Savory and wonderfully deep, the 2021 captures all the pedigree of this great vintage.”

Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Crafted by the superstar duo of 100 pt. winemaker Andy Erickson and renowned viticulturist Annie Favia from a top Napa vintage, collectors know to secure their allocation of the stunning 98 pt. 2021 Favia Cabernet Sauvignon Coombsville without hesitation, its richly aromatic, intense dark fruit glistening with freshness, vibrant minerality and “real Coombsville character” according to James Suckling and perfectly balanced by layers of fine tannins that will reward patient cellaring with an amazing ride over the next several decades.

Launching Favia in 2003 from a basement in St. Helena, husband and wife Andy Erickson and Annie Favia moved to their 6.5 acre property in Coombsville in southeastern Napa Valley two decades ago, restoring the original 1880’s Victorian home with its stone cellar and surrounding it with expansive gardens that include vegetables and herbal teas. Both long-time Napa veterans, Annie’s viticulture expertise developed under legendary grower David Abreu and continued as vineyard manager for Pahlmeyer, while Andy’s lengthy resume includes stints with Harlan, Staglin and of course Screaming Eagle where he crafted two 100 pt. Cabs as well as consulting for the region’s heavy hitters like Dalla Valle and making his own wines under the umbrella of Huneeus brands. Sourced from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grown in Coombsville’s gravelly, volcanic soils and one of Napa’s coolest climates influenced by nearby San Pablo Bay, the fresh and expertly balanced 98 pt. 2021 Favia Cabernet Sauvignon Coombsville was aged in 50% new French oak before being bottled unfiltered and unfined, yielding a refined, opulent Napa Cab with “tons of nuance and Coombsville character” according to Antonio Galloni of Vinous, described by Inside Bordeaux’s Jane Anson as “beautifully constructed” who sums it up as “a wine that makes me so happy to be tasting.”

From an outstanding year “right up there with Napa’s top vintages of the 21st Century,” the Wine Independent’s Lisa Perrotti Brown recommends Napa Cab fans buy "whatever you’re offered and can find of the 2021’s,” including the impressive 98 pt. 2021 Favia Cabernet Sauvignon Coombsville, masterfully crafted by one of Napa’s most exceptional winemakers and a top pick that Napa collectors won’t want to miss.

Ranked among the top scoring Oakville Cabs from “unquestionably an impressive vintage" according to Jeb Dunnuck, the powerful 99 pt. 2021 Favia Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville is a brilliant Napa Cab to make room for in the cellar, unbeatably priced well below the region’s cult producers and an outstanding value for serious Napa Cab lovers and collectors.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Coombsville explodes with bombastic notes of creme de cassis, black cherry preserves, and boysenberries giving way to nuances of cedar, graphite, and lavender oil. The full-bodied palate is jam packed with intense black and blue fruit layers supported by a solid line of firm grainy tannins and amazing tension, finishing long and with wonderful purity.

98 points, Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Independent (Feb 2024)

Sourced from three Coombsville vineyards: Meteor, The Rabbit Hole, and Collinetta. A glass-staining ruby-purple colour. Intensely aromatic blackberry and cherry fruits are pure, precise, and layered with fragrant cedarwood notes, white pepper, and dark chocolate. Full-bodied with unctuous and concentrated dark berry fruits that have a satiny quality, framed by velvety fine-grained tannins and gobs of red liquorice, aromatic violets, and graphite. So dense and tightly packed and yet so fresh and inviting.

98 points, Jonathan Cristaldi, Decanter (May 2024)

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Coombsville, 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, offers tons of nuance and Coombsville character. Savory and wonderfully deep, the 2021 captures all the pedigree of this great vintage. Lavender, crushed rocks, graphite and rose petals all run through this fleshy Cabernet Sauvignon.

97 points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous (Dec 2023)

This is full of aromas of lead pencil, black berries and black currants. Deep and dark. Full to medium body, with juicy and layered tannins and a flavorful finish. Very grapey. Precise and focused. Real Coombsville character. Drinkable and will age beautifully.

97 points, James Suckling (Jul 2024)

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Coombsville is all varietal that, like all these latest 2021s, was brought up in 50% new French oak. It has more blue fruit as well as a full-bodied, incredibly layered style in its full-bodied aromas and flavors of graphite, scorched earth, tobacco, and obvious minerality. It's a big, concentrated 2021, but it nevertheless holds onto a beautiful sense of freshness and balance, which is what I think sets this vintage apart. As with the La Magdalena, it's not for the instant gratification crowd, since it probably won't hit full maturity until a decade after the vintage, but I'd be shocked if it didn't have 30 years of overall longevity.

96+ points, Jeb Dunnuck (Dec 2023)

A gorgeous red, with a deep well of black currant preserves, steeped plum and blackberry reduction moving in lockstep, while warm earth, cast iron, sweet bay and tobacco elements flash throughout. Offers a lovely violet echo on the finish, which shows suave polish while staying grounded in its terroir. Best from 2026 through 2040. 710 cases made.

96 points, James Molesworth, Wine Spectator (Jul 2024)
