The organic Elena Fucci 2021 Aglianico del Vulture by Amphora has a ripe and fleshy personality with lots of extra texture and richness. This wine is loaded and stacked, almost heavy, on the mid-palate, with blackberry, dried blackcurrant, dusty ash, black licorice and the blackened crust on a piece of toasted bread. As the wine's name suggests, winemaking sees clay amphorae, so what you are getting here really is the dark intensity of the primary fruit. This is a precious and limited release of 1,800 bottles.

The 2021 Aglianico del Vulture Titolo By Amphora wafts up peppery and perfumed with a mentholated herbal nuance that gives way to musky black currants and exotic spice. Silky and enveloping, this soothes with a wave of polished red and black fruits, ideally lifted by cooling acidity as a minty freshness forms toward the close. It finishes structured and long, leaving a coating of crystalline tannins that resonate with a hint of fresh rosemary. The Titolo By Amphora displays wonderfully soft contours and vivid fruit, making it a pleasure to taste despite its youthful state.

A spicy, sanguine nose features notes of pepper, metal and olives, but violet and black-cherry undertones provide levity. The palate leans into the sanguine, meaty notes of earth and fire, while the fruit also turns darker and deeper, before ultimately plunging into a dark-chocolate finish, which is structured by polished yet firm tannins.
