Based largely on Sauvignon Blanc (there's 5% Sauvignon Gris), the 2021 Château Couhins Blanc offers up a terrific perfume of honeyed citrus and chalky minerality as well as a bright, racy, yet concentrated style on the palate. With a pH under 3, it still somehow seems to stay balanced and has good concentration. Nevertheless, it shows the vibrant, pure, crisp style of the vintage beautifully, and I suspect it will age effortlessly.

The 2021 Couhins Blanc bristles with saline infused energy and tons of Sauvignon character. Crushed rocks, mint, lemon peel, jasmine and white pepper all build in a taut, nervy white that offers tons of character and pure pleasure. I loved it.

A layered and bright white with a medium body and tangy acidity. Refreshing. Lots of lemon and pineapple with some spice, anise and saltine character at the end.

The 2021 Couhins Blanc is a little closed to start, soon opening out to reveal notes of lime juice, green apple, and fresh pineapple with wafts of struck flint and yuzu. Medium-bodied, the palate has an electric backbone of freshness supporting the energetic citrus fruits, finishing long and steely.

The 2021 Couhins Blanc exhibits aromas of crisp green apple, pastry cream and confit citrus, followed by a medium to full-bodied, chalky and incisive palate. As usual, this overperforming estate from clay-limestone soils has produced a white wine that punches above its weight.
