An intense, deep, vibrant wine full of spicy aromas of mint, licorice, balsamic, eucalyptus, dried violets and prunes. The attack is supple and dense, with a full body, refreshing acidity and firm tannins that are velvety and refined. Still austere in the finish, with the potential for aging. Try from 2027.

The Cordero di Montezemolo 2021 Barolo Monfalletto comes from various vineyards near the winery in La Morra. This wine offers a plump, slightly ripe fruit profile with black cherry, damson plum and menthol. This remains genuine and pretty all the while. It doesn't show the exacting depth of the top wines, but this well-priced Barolo delivers good cheer over a more accessible style. This is a release of 54,000 bottles.

The 2021 Barolo Monfalletto is gorgeous. Deep, pliant and expressive, the 2021 has a lot to offer. I would give this a few years in the cellar, as it is quite concentrated and deep. Black cherry, leather, spice, incense and licorice build nicely, leading to a rich, sumptuous finish. The Monfalletto is a beautiful, highly pleasing Barolo. All it needs is a bit of time to shed some of its considerable baby fat.

This is supple and spicy, its cherry, raspberry and rose flavors framed by a light touch of oak. Balanced and elegant, with refined tannins. Fine length. Best from 2028 through 2043. 4,600 cases made, 2,100 cases imported.

Dark cherries and ripe forest fruits emerge with brooding intensity, showing Monfalletto's robust personality. The wine flexes its muscles across the palate, where dusty tannins build steadily before exploding on the finish, demonstrating a powerful yet controlled expression of Barolo's classic structure. Drink from 2027
