The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Massal 1945 from Almahue, Cachapoal, was aged in concrete vats and foudres. The slightly reductive nose offers redcurrant and white pepper notes with hints of rosemary. Dry and fairly taut in the mouth, the finely grained, polished tannins and juicy feel flow into a lingering, fruity finish. The cold year has left its mark on this much leaner than usual Cachapoal red.

Grilled herbs, blackcurrants, olives and iodine here. Savory and flavorful, with a medium body, fine tannins and sleek, lengthy and tasty finish. Why wait? Delicious now.

The 2021 Massal 1945 Cabernet Sauvignon was riper than the alcohol indicated (13.5%), which seems to be a characteristic of this wine that comes through as Mediterranean with abundant notes of aromatics herbs and a juicy palate with the fine-grained tannins from the variety. These are wines for the dining table. 20,000 bottles were filled in August 2022.
