A blend of 17 Beaune Premier Crus which has been exclusively produced at Bouchard since 1907. Bouchard owns 26ha, largely on pebbly/marly limestone. 12-14 months in oak with 25-35% new. Fred Weber stressed how healthy the grapes were in 2019. Vibrant redcurrant/raspberry fruit, an abundance of elegance here despite fruit ripeness and alcohol weighing in at 14.5%. Concentrated, supple and fine tannins, restrained, almost unnoticeable, oak. Weber likens the 2019 vintage to 1949.

An intense sage aroma is married to bright red berry fruit - redcurrant, raspberry and cranberry - plus a healthy dose of well-crafted tannins on the medium-bodied palate. Good length with some interesting savory character at the finish. Just about drinkable now, but a bit more time in bottle would help. Drinkable now, but best from 2025.
