It is surprisingly energetic and lifted in feel, with racy red berry fruits and rosy inner florals that form a truly satisfying experience. The 2021 is pleasantly chewy and long, leaving a coating of fine-grained tannins and a nuance of tart blackberry.

It brings great energy and focus to the palate, with a medium-bodied frame, and it resonates with a refreshing spine of acidity, well-defined, angular tannins, and wonderful length. Winemaker Bernardino Sani estimates a 30% loss due to frost in 2021, saying that this concentrated everything – acid, tannins and flavours. To temper and harmonise this Brunello, he gave it six months longer in wood than the past few vintages. While still shy just after bottling, it was exploding with rose, mint blossom, pepper and rosemary a few months later. Round in shape yet light and bright on its feet, the flavours are full and pure. Raspberry, juicy plum and nectarine intertwine with those sweet herbs, while smooth tannins caress. Deliciously mouthstaining.
