Crushed wild berries combine with violet flowers, chalk dust and hints of sweet spice as the 2020 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva evolves in the glass. This is round and supple, with perfumed inner florals and lavender-laced blackberry fruit that slowly saturates toward the close. A tinge of sour citrus mixes with salty minerals and fine tannins as the 2020 tapers off with staining length yet remarkably fresh. This is a fantastic rendition of the vintage.

Aromas and flavors of leather, tobacco and autumn woods augment the fading notes of cherry and plum in this maturing red. Dense, dusty tannins hang around the finish, yet this shows balance in a beefy, muscular way. Sangiovese and Canaiolo. Best from 2026 through 2040. 12,500 cases made, 6,500 cases imported.

Blackberries provide pop on an otherwise savory, umami nose of coffee grinds, hot tires, top soil and pepper. The pepper, earth and berry elements swell on the palate before evolving smoothly into a long, spicy finish of warm citrus and mocha.
