Jean-Marc Brocard has been one of the leading producers in Chablis for nearly 50 years, his first vineyard near the village of Prehy planted in 1973 on a single hectare given to him as a wedding gift by his new father-in-law. As a leader in sustainable and biodynamic farming in the region, Domaine Jean-Marc Brocard is now under the direction of Jean-Marc’s Julien, its estate holdings spanning over 200 hectares of organically farmed vines grown in the area’s famous Kimmeridgian soils, a fossil-rich calcareous clay that imparts minerality and a note of salinity. The Grand Cru Blanchots takes root on a very steep slope, catching the early morning sun (Southeastern exposure): a unique characteristic which results in a powerful wine with an equally unique attack on the palate. A very mineral style in the end of mouth. A beautifully harmonious wine. Buttered, toasted, salt, final salivating, floral, fine wine, good density and persistence in the mouth.
