The 2019 Sancerre Mélodie de Vieilles Vignes is from 50- to 90-year-old vines on very shallow Kimmeridgian clay soils (terres blanches) covering adamant limestone bedrock in Sury-en-Vaux. The nose and palate reveal a clear, lean, restrained yet precise and stony, tightly structured and refreshing Sancerre with grip, tension and sustainable lemon zest notes on the salty-mineral finish. This should be great with Atlantic oysters. Tasted in February 2021.
