The Piero Benevelli 2019 Barolo Le Coste di Monforte is a beautiful wine with lots of cherry and bright fruit to give the bouquet energy and lift. You get the characteristic power of Monforte d'Alba fruit, which carries a bit of extra minerality in the form or iron ore or rust. This wine is quite tight on the close, with mineral-metallic notes, suggesting that more bottle age is needed. However, these results are balanced and very elegant. This is a 9,000-bottle release.
