The youngest of the two vintages I tasted of the single-vineyard La Navilla, the 2019 Viña Pedrosa La Navilla Reserva was produced with the grapes from the vines that surround the winery in the village of Pedrosa de Duero. This has a slightly more modern and more generously oaked profile with spicy and smoky aromas after 20 months in French oak barrels. Despite having similar parameters, this comes from a warm and dry year and shows a little riper and headier and has a slightly more rustic personality and abundant tannins. 28,865 bottles produced. It was bottled in November 2021.

The 2019 Viña Pedrosa La Navilla originates from a vineyard planted in 1960 in Pedrosa del Duero and was aged for 20 months in new French oak barrels. A dark garnet-red in hue. The barrel-heavy aromas include cinnamon, sandalwood, cedar, blackberry, dried plum and herbs. The palate is dry and structured, with young tannins that dry out the gums. The warm year resulted in a more potent tannic presence.

Pine cones, vanilla, walnuts and iodine on top of the ripe blackberry-drenched nose. This is very tight and extracted on the palate with a full body and powerful, angular tannin structure. Very compact and dense. Try in 2025.
