2019 Palivou Estate Nemea (750ml)

The 2019 Nemea is an Agiorgitiko aged for 12 months in 30% new French oak. It comes in at 14.5% alcohol. This sits in the middle of the winery's Agiorgitiko range between the unoaked Anemos and the powerful Terra Leone. It's a good value that stays in balance, shows some power and remains fresh. It is more serious than the Anemos, more restrained than the Terra Leone. It handles the wood well. Right at the moment, though, the structure somewhat eviscerates the fruit. This needs a little more time in the cellar, but perhaps not much. Come back this time next year, and it will likely be in better shape. At the moment, the Anemos drinks better and shows better. Drink that, wait for this.
