Fantastic aromas of blackberries and blueberries with hints of flowers and pencil lead. Full-bodied with velvety, creamy tannins and a long, flavorful finish. Some bitter lemon, bitter chocolate and grilled toast at the end. 60% cabernet franc and 40% cabernet sauvignon. Drinkable now, but better in two or three years.

The 2019 La Magdalena is a Cabernet Franc-based blend from Oakville Ranch. It possesses tremendous mid-palate weight and density. Tasting it next to the Cerro Sur is so fascinating, as both wines are Franc-based and yet completely different. Red cherry, plum, mocha, licorice and lavender build into the potent, sumptuous finish.

A 62-38 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc from Oakville Ranch, the 2019 La Magdalena boasts expansive aromas of plums and blueberries, rich, ripe and concentrated without being overdone. There's a lovely sense of balance to this and the other Favia Erickson wines, combining structure and opulence without being too rigid or too soft. This one finishes really long, with hints of mocha and dark chocolate.

The 2019 La Magdalena is a 60/40 split of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, all from Oakville (near Dalla Valle) that was brought up in 50% new barrels. It's another elegant, complex, medium to full-bodied effort from Erickson that has a deep purple hue, loads of floral, incense, tobacco, and spicy nuances, fine tannins, and a great core of red and black fruits. It picks up some classic Oakville iron and darker nuances with air and is perfect for enjoying over the coming 15 years.

A rock-solid offering, with a mix of licorice root, blackberry paste, sweet tobacco and black currant preserves all held together nicely with a sleek iron spine. This is a lean-muscle version of the power style, with nice tension and energy to complement the heft of the fruit. Really gorgeous. Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Best from 2023 through 2036. 446 cases made.
