The 2019 Pouilly-Fuissé Clos de la Chapelle has turned out beautifully, wafting from the glass with notes of clear honey, white flowers, mandarin oil and almond paste. Full-bodied, layered and textural, with a deep, multidimensional core that's framed by lively acids, it concludes with a long, saline finish. As I've written before, this perennially brilliant Pouilly-Fuissé exemplifies the ripe and unctuous wines produced by the gently sloping vineyards clustered around the village of Soultré, among which the Clos de la Chapelle ranks as one of the finest.
