Perched on a hill overlooking the breathtaking, rugged landscape of Napa's renowned Stags Leap District, the stunning Cliff Lede Winery reflects its founder's background in high-end construction, its state-of-the-art cellars boasting custom crafted tanks inspired by Chateau Latour. After purchasing 60 acres in the northeast corner of the AVA in 2002, owner Cliff Lede (pronounced "lay-dee") acquired the Poetry Vineyard a year later, replanting the steep rocky parcel stretching from Stags Leap's highest elevations down to the Silverado Trail with Bordeaux varietals under the direction of famed vineyard manager David Abreu. The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) is more exuberant and sexy, which is to be expected from this Grand Cru vineyard. Sweet cassis, flowery incense, liquid violets, and spicy oak are just some of the nuances here, and this hits the palate with full-bodied richness, ultra-fine tannins, no hard edges, and one heck of a great finish. It's impossible resist today, yet it’s another magical wine from this estate that will evolve for 20-25 years if stored correctly. 721 cases.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon is made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep garnet-purple colored, it opens with a profound nose of crème de cassis, baked plums and blackberry preserves, leading to hints of cinnamon toast, menthol and cedar chest plus a touch of crushed rocks. Medium to full-bodied, fine-grained and refreshing, the palate is elegantly styled with amazing intensity and a fantastically long, earthy finish.
